Sanne Boswinkel, anchor bij RTLZ, de economische nieuwszender van RTL. Ruim 20 jaar inmiddels werkt zij als verslaggever, journalist en anchor. Elke dag probeert zij met nieuwe verwondering naar de wereld te kijken. Boswinkel: Waarom gaan dingen zoals ze gaan? Wie stuurt het proces? Wie wint, wie levert in, wat zijn de gevolgen van deze beslissing? Door het stellen van de juiste vragen kan de complexe wereld om ons heen transparanter worden. Dr. Raed Arafat

Being specialized in anesthesia and critical care and having a European Master in disaster medicine, Dr. Raed Arafat is the founder of Mobile Emergency Service for Resuscitation and Extrication (SMURD), that was established since 1990. Starting with 2007, he coordinated the activity of many institutional structures and strategic programmes for Emergency Situations, among them: Healthcare System for Emergencies and Disasters in the Ministry of Health, as well as the Department for Emergency Situations that coordinates the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations, General Inspectorate of Aviation, Emergency Medical Services and Mountain Rescue in the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

Dr. Arafat has a wide experience in operational coordination of emergency services, he participated and organized numerous training courses and seminars in the field of emergency medical care, control and coordination of emergency services, emergency management, etc.

On the same line, Dr. Arafat is a member of several scientific and professional organizations in the field of emergency medicine and disaster medicine (both at domestic and international level), as well as author and co-author of several textbooks, books, documents and articles.

Dr. Raed Arafat received academic titles and distinctions conferred by prestigious, national and international organisms, such as Legion of Honour at the class of Chevalier offered by the President of France, International Emergency Medicine Leadership Award from American Academy of Emergency Medicine, National Order For Merit at the class of Chevalier and Officer offered by the President of Romania for the whole scientific and research activity, for the outstanding contribution to the development and promotion of information technology and communications in Romania.

Emerging infections in the global village; from risk to risk management.

Dr. Eric van Gorp

Prof. dr. Eric C.M. van Gorp studied medicine at the University of Amsterdam. In 1990 he graduated as a medical doctor, after which he started to work as a resident in the department of Internal Medicine of the Academic Medical Centre (AMC) Amsterdam. In 1997 he graduated as specialist in Internal Medicine and continued his training as infectious disease specialist. In 1998 he graduated as infectious disease specialist. In 2001 he finished his thesis entitled: “Studies on the pathophysiology of dengue haemorrhagic fever and dengue shock syndrome”, granted by the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences (KNAW). He is currently working at the Erasmus MC Rotterdam, the Netherlands, at the department of Internal Medicine and infectious diseases and at the department of Viroscience. He is visiting professor at the University of Airlanga in Surabaya, Indonesia. He is involved in the Rotterdam Global Health Initiative (RGHI\ His field of interest is the social and scientific impact of infectious diseases; epidemiology, clinical management and pathophysiology. The research line, with several PhD’s, he is supervising is focussing on exotic viral infections, among which the hemorrhagic fevers, HIV and Fever studies, with an extensive (inter) national network in the Netherlands, the Caribbean, Suriname, China and Indonesia. He is supervisor of the vaccination outpatient clinic and the clinical trial unit from the Viroscience department.

Brian currently lives in Apple Valley, CA with his spouse and four children. Brian handles the Emergency Management for 4 healthcare facilities in the Southern California Region. He sits on the leadership committee for the healthcare coalition, helping to develop the current by-laws used by the coalition within the county. Brian worked for eight years as a paid-call firefighter/paramedic for a local county fire department. He is currently in the process of completing his degree in the field of Public Safety and Emergency Management.

Before becoming a Terrorism Liaison Officer with in a large healthcare system he worked many years in the emergency room as an ER tech. Brian has held multiple positions within the Incident Command Structure and invested numerous hours to training at the Center of Domestic Preparedness completing courses such as Healthcare Leadership, Hospital Emergency Response Team and Instructor Training Course which allows him to educate staff.

When Brian is not at work he loves spending time with his family, whether it is traveling to the Big Island in Hawaii or a new SCUBA diving destination. He likes to relax on the weekends while their boat to the Mojave River.

Dr. Gary Parrish

Dr. Parrish is the Medical Director of the Emergency Department at Orlando Health/Orlando Regional Medical Center in Orlando, Florida and was on duty in the emergency department in the night of the shootings.

He also serves as the clinical chairman of the Department of Emergency Medicine at ORMC and is a faculty member in their Emergency Medicine residency training program. He attended medical school at the University of Alabama in Birmingham, and residency in Emergency Medicine at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville, Pennsylvania. He is a clinical associate professor at the University of Florida School of Medicine and is currently a board-certified emergency physician in his 30th year of clinical practice.

David has been involved with STJ for 18 years and GM for SI for past 5 years. David was the on ground as he lives in Christchurch and was  organisational lead for the earthquakes and the recovery being on the 6th floor of the building. When 22 February struck he worked for about 8 days straight and then had two days off and worked for another 14 days. He has done a lot of work on patient pathways and flows pathway development around patient flows and health system interaction as he sits on several steering committees.
